First session in Most under dry and predictable conditions

Sometimes good things happen, when you don’t expect them anymore. The sky across the Autodrom Most cleared up on Sunday morning and Race 2 of the MAXX Formula Czech GP could finally start in dry and predictable conditions. Unfortunately, Christian Eicke, the Swiss GP2 driver, was not able to attend, he suffered from dizziness and he decided not to participate, mainly for safety reasons. During the outlap to the starting grid, the local hero, Veronika Jaksch, who was highly motivated to show a great performance in front of her home crowd, needed to park her GP2 with an electronic failure and was not able anymore to go to the grid on her own. Pole setter Christopher Brenier (FRA), who seems to be almost invincible this season, again took the lead out of turn one after an uneventful start.

Bernd Herndlhofer, the Austrian, who had to compensate for yesterday`s DNF, followed closely and passed Brenier still in lap one in order to dictate the race from the leading position. Kurt Böhlen, runner-up of Race 1 yesterday, asserted P3. Martin Kindler, also highly motivated to show a better performance than in Race 1, turned in to corner one on P4, seeing Anton Werner, the German Indy Car pilot in his rear mirror. Gilles Brenier went through turn 1 on P6. The two Masters Class contenders Stephan Glaser and Karl-Heinz Becker completed the field on P7 and P8.

Herndlhofer unable to stop Brenier’s winning streak due to technical problems

Everything has been set for a close battle between Herndlhofer and Brenier, surprisingly, the Frenchman with his SuperLeague Formula immediately passed the Austrian again and quickly created a decent gap between him and his chaser. As the race continued, the gap increased lap by lap and it looked like Herndlhofer might face technical problems with his GP2. He finally gave up the race and later on he reported a broken gear wheel. As the time margins of all cars on track were quite big, no further fights over positions could be faced. Christopher Brenier masterfully won Race 2 and showed one more time, that he turns out to be the Nr.1 favorite for the MAXX Formula Championship title in 2021 as his race performance was above reproach. A solid P2 could be recorded for Kurt Böhlen (SUI) and Martin Kindler (SUI) finally earned a Podium at his first attendance in Most. Gilles Brenier (FRA) also showed great race pace and passed Anton Werner (GER) during the race, finishing P4, whereas the Indy Car pilot ended up on P5. Stephan Glaser (SUI) won the Masters Class division and he reversed the result from yesterday`s race by beating Karl-Heinz Becker and placing him on P2 in division, P7 overall.

On a positive side note, the team of Veronika Jaksch got back her car into the box while the race was still on, they immediately erased the electronic failure and the only female driver on the grid was still able to race two time laps, which was applauded and enthusiastically honored by her numerous fans on the grand stand.
