1st race of the MAXX Formula in Monza on 26.09.2020

At 13:05 the MAXX Formula field started. With sunshine, some wind and a completely dry track, the MAXX Formula pilots started the introductory round.

The race started with a bang. The overall fastest Matthias Lüthen / Germany ( GP2 ) stopped at the start. He had to run after the field, wanted to catch up with the field, but then lost the car in chicane 2 and hit the wall. So the man with the pole position was already at the beginning Out of the Race !

Shortly afterwards Wolfgang Jaksch / Germany with his Super Aguri Formula 1 was out of the race. Clear statement of Wolfgang Jaksch ” I think the tires were still too cold and I wanted with the cold tires to make too much speed.

After both retirements Kurt Böhlen / Switzerland (GP2) took the lead. After the yellow-phase was over, the pilots of the MAXX Formula are back on track. Kurt Böhlen maintained his lead and didn´t gave it up to the finish.

Gilles Brenier / France advanced to 2nd place with his Superleague Formula after the yellow phase. Shortly before the race the Easy Formula Team had to decide whether Gilles Brenier or Christopher Brenier would take part in the Saturday race to the start, since only one vehicle was ready for action.

A very good performance on place 3 brought Anton Werner / Germany from the Ryschka Motorsport Team. Driver and vehicle were one unit and were rewarded with a great 3rd place.

Christian Eicke / Germany drove a great race and finished it on the 4th place of the overall ranking.

Karl-Heinz Becker / Germany with his Worldseries by Nissan, drove today with great commitment and was rewarded with the 5th place.

Wolfgang Jordan ( GP2 ) of the team H&A Racing drove with a sovereign performance on place 6 in the field of the noble racing series.

Veronika Jaksch / CZE moved her new GP2 from Team H&A Racing this afternoon, according to her own statement with much more optimism on place 7. She first has to get used to the new car.

Michael Grosse-Aschhoff / Germany from the Asche Racing Team, had some bad luck with his Formula 3000, shortly before the race he had to switch to the replacement car. His original car unfortunately had to stop in the pits due to a defect. He emphasized that the replacement car had 50 hp / 36.7 kW less power. Michael Grosse-Aschhoff took 8th place at the end of the race.

The winners received a special honor before the award ceremony. They were allowed to sign the “Book of Winners” in Monza.

The 1st race on Saturday of the MAXX Formula in Monza was very exciting and a great event. We are already looking forward to tomorrow’s 2nd race on Sunday !
